Used construction trenching equipment is a broad category that actually can refer to several different types of tools. Broadly speaking, trenchers are machines that dig long trenches for different projects. Trenches are necessary for laying pipe, wires, and foundations. To do this sort of thing by hand would take dozens, if not hundreds, of men, and an unbelievable number of man hours. But the use of one tractor means that the job is cut down to one or two operators, and the number of hours necessary for the work is significantly reduced. Due to the fact that there are many different reasons to cut giant holes in the ground, there are many different designs of tractors with the ability to cut into different types of ground with different strengths, depths, and widths. There are concrete cutters, lawn plows, ride on trenchers, rockwheels, track trenchers, trailers, trench compactors, vibratory plows, walk behinds, and water plow systems. Obviously, each one has a different purpose.
When you are searching for used construction trenching equipment, you need to figure out exactly how often you would use it (would it be cheaper to just rent it?), where you will be using, and what you are using it for. If you intend to cut through roads, sidewalks, or parking lots, you want a concrete cutter. The concrete cutter is strong enough to break up the hard material so that you can get to the power or water lines underneath for repair. If, on the other hand, you need to mainly dig or cut into lawns because you work near and around homes, then a concrete cutter would be much too much. You would need something more like the lawn plow.
