Logging is a huge industry because lumber is used in the construction of just about any building you can think of, paper is made from trees, and there will always be a market for good, high quality lumber. There are still some areas of the country where wild trees are harvested as lumber, and there are places that are commercial lots. The needs for each of these areas are different, even though in many situations, the needs are the same. Skidders, processors and harvesters, feller bunchers, forwards, delimbers, log loaders, chippers, and debarkers are used regardless of where you are doing your logging. But some of these items need to be on tracks depending on where they are going to be used. As a result, these machines are often available as either wheeled or on tracks. For example, if a delimber is going to be used in the forest itself, right where the tree is felled, it should be on tracks. If a delimber is going to remain on the road, and all of the delimbing and processing is going to be done roadside, then it is okay to get a delimber that is on wheels.
There are many different manufacturers for these kinds of heavy machinery. There are also many vendors. Especially since so much business is commonly done online. You can do comparison shopping on the websites, especially since several of the larger websites not only list new items, they also list used or second market items for interested buyers.
